London Tours

There are literally thousands of tours both in and to outside London – it can be difficult to make a choice. Of course you could spend weeks and weeks in London and not manage to see all the sights you want to see or have heard above. You need to plan well and if time allows it would be nice to get a little outside London to enjoy the English countryside. One or two ideas for tours are given below

London Transport Bus
With your Travel Card or London visitors Card, just hop on a red double decker bus to somewhere. Go upstairs and watch the world go by below you while keeping your eye on the marvellous architecture.

A Trip on the London Underground
On a first trip to London, you gotta go on the “Tube”. You need to get a map and work out the route you want to go. Carefully check the “interchange” stations where you can change from one line to another. When you go into an underground station, you must carefully decide in which direction you want to go – that means which line you want firstly, and then in which direction you want that Underground Line to go (the sign posting is very, very clear – just take time to read and understand it)

Walking Tours
One of the best ways to experience London is to tour the city on foot. If you don’t think you can do it on your own, there are many guided and themed walking tours to help you with this task. If you need just a little help narrowing down where and when to go, there are services available that can help you, such as Blue Badge accredited guides and the Great London Treasure Hunt self-guided tours. There are many guided tours offered year round that are sure to win high marks. Some intriguing tours to look into include the Along the Thames Pub London Walk, Ancient London Walk, Haunted London Walk, The London of Oscar Wilde Walk, Jack the Ripper’s London Walk, Bloomsbury London Walk, Little Venice Walk, as well as Shakespeare’s London

Hop On Hop Off Buses
Look into enjoying the city from the top of a double-decker bus. If you are visiting during the summer months, the bus is open-topped in the summer. These tours cover all the main attractions in London. There are many tour companies to choose from, but all provide daily tours and allow you to board and re-board at numerous stops. You can purchase tickets from the driver and they are good all day. A few companies to consider are the Big Bus Company (020/7233-9533), Black Taxi Tour of London ( 020/7289-4371) and Evan Evans (020/7950-1777) but there are many more. For most you can buy a ticket as you board at one of the main stops, you’ll be also given a map and guide leaflet.
