Things to Carry on Your Person

If you want to know what is important and what you should keep with you at all times, here are some tips that can help you.

  • Wallet
  • Coupons
  • Credit cards
  • Driver’s License
  • Travelers checks
  • Travel brochures and maps.
  • Airline, Cruise or Train tickets.
  • Insurance cards for both your medical and automobile insurance.
  • Lots of crisp one-dollar bills for all those tipping opportunities.
  • Carry a driver’s license from your state of residence with a photograph.
  • A passport, for all travel outside the U.S. and identification purposes.
  • Itinerary with confirmation numbers and addresses and phone numbers of where you’ll be staying.
  • Do not leave sensitive information or documents in your hotel room. Hand carry and personally protect your documents.
  • Hand carry any sensitive or proprietary information. Leave all expensive and unneeded personal or professional property at home.
  • A small amount of local currency for immediate use to hold you over until you can make it to a currency exchange, if you’re planning foreign travel.
  • Keep your passport with you at all times. Only relinquish it to the hotel if required by law when registering, or if required to identify yourself to local authorities.
  • Take a pack of Wet Ones (or Baby Wipes, with lanolin) with you wherever you go. They are great not only for cleaning your hands, but great for those countries when it is difficult to find a hot shower.
